JEFF LOVELACE has been photographing for publication since 1962. His environmental book,
A California Landscape, was among the first of that genre and hailed as "a plea for sensible
value judgements by government and society" and "a tasteful, well-done piece of artistic literature..."
He worked for many years in newspaper, magazine and theater photography. His travels have taken
him all over North America, and to New Zealand, North Africa and most of Western Europe.
In 1986 he founded COLOFON PRODUCTIONS (after colophon,
the printing information or publisher's
emblem at the back of a book). In 1988 he began traveling year-round in rural areas of the far
Western States. Today he lives quietly in Bakersfield and enjoys easy access to California's high
desert and Eastern Sierra.
